THE VILLAIN:    Franz Sanchez (Robert Davi) - Central American drug lord who has political control over the fictional nation of Isthmus and has supposedly killed, bribed or intimidated half the government officials south of the US border.


SUB-VILLAINS:    Dario (Benicio Del Toro) - former Nicaraguan Contra, expelled for his cruel methods, now a knife-wielding killer working for Sanchez.

                                Ed Killifer (Everett McGill) - corrupt DEA agent who helps Sanchez escape from US custody.

                                Milton Krest (Anthony Zerbe) - owner of Wavekrest, a supposed marine research company; in actuality Krest is a drug smuggler working with Sanchez.

                                Professor Joe Butcher (Wayne Newton) - corrupt televangelist broadcasting from Isthmus, preaches cone power and meditation; in fact a conduit of communication between Sanchez and his drug dealers in the US.

                                President Hector Lopez (Pedro Armendariz Jr) - puppet leader of Isthmus, under the control of Sanchez.

                                Truman-Lodge (Anthony Starke) - young, amoral financial whiz who helps Sanchez apply sophisticated marketing techniques to the cocaine trade.

                                Colonel Heller (Don Stroud) - head of security for Sanchez.

                                Braun (Guy de Saint Cyr) - henchman working for Sanchez.


VILLAIN'S PLOT:    Sanchez is building an Asian/American drug cartel utilising a unique smuggling operation - cocaine hidden in gasoline tanker trucks delivered to a network of buyers who are signalled through the TV broadcasts of televangelist Professor Joe Butcher.


BOND WOMEN:    Pam Bouvier (Carey Lowell) - former Army pilot, CIA operative sent by the US Attorney General to get Heller immunity if he turns against Sanchez.

                                Lupe Lamora (Talisa Soto) - former dealer at Sanchez's casino in Isthmus, opportunistic lover of Sanchez, now trapped in an abusive relationship.


BONDS ALLIES:    Felix Leiter (David Hedison) - Bong's longterm CIA ally, now working for the US Drug Enforcement Administration, getting married as the story begins; his mutilation by Sanchez inspires Bond to go on a mission of vengeance.

                                Sharkey (Frank McRae) - fisherman friend of Felix's in Key West.

                                Della Churchill (Priscilla Barnes) - Felix Leiter's bride, killed by Dario and Sanchez's henchmen.

                                Hawkins (Grand L Bush) - DEA agent working with Leiter.

                                Kwang & Loti (Cary Hirouki-Tagawa & Diana Lee-Hsu) - Hong Kong narcotics agents posing as drug dealers to uncover Sanchez's operations.


THE BOND TEAM:    M (Robert Brown) - head of the British Secret Service, an authoritative father figure who sends Bond on his missions.

                                    Miss Moneypenny (Caroline Bliss) - assistant and researcher working for the British Secret Service, a Barry Manilow fan with glasses and a hopeless crush on 007.

                                    Q (Desmond Llewelyn) - the creator of Bond's lethal gadgets, aka Major Boothroyd.


BOND'S GADGETS:    Underwater manta ray cloak; Hasselblad camera which can be broken apart and reassembled as a signature gun; cummerbund that holds rappelling gear; toothpaste tube filled with plastic explosive; cigarette pack remote explosive detonator.
